Instagram testing new feature for transforming photos into stickers for Reels and Stories

Instagram's latest test feature turns users' photos into stickers for Reels and Stories

Instagram is introducing an exciting new feature that allows users to transform their photos into custom stickers for use in Reels and Stories. This innovative tool simplifies the sticker creation process by automatically selecting the subject of a photo and removing the background, resulting in a free-floating sticker that can be easily placed over other content.

Adam Mosseri, the Head of Instagram, gave a brief demonstration of how this feature works through a video shared on his broadcast channel. Users will have the flexibility to create stickers not only from photos saved on their phones but also from “eligible images you see on Instagram.” While specific details about the latter option are yet to be revealed, it hints at users being able to make their pictures sticker-ready.

However, it’s important to note that this feature is still in the testing phase and hasn’t been rolled out to all users yet. As a result, we’ll have to wait to see what the final version looks like. In addition to this sticker creation feature, Instagram has also recently begun testing a polling feature, which will be integrated into the comments section under feed posts.
